About

Sarah Wallace is a writer and book enthusiast with a passion for the power of words. Sarah loves writing in all its forms and writes flash fiction, short stories, poetry and picture books.   She is particularly passionate about children’s literature and spent four years as a reviewer for Kids’ Book Review publishing over 100 reviews of children’s books covering all genres and age groups.

Not knowing what to do when she left school, Sarah followed her passion for literature and completed a Bachelor of Arts (English) before pursing her career in government education policy. She has worked for the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment for over 20 years, including 12 years specialising in early childhood education policy. She has postgraduate qualifications in Education and advocates for the importance of literature in education.

Sarah is actively involved in her local writing community. She is on the ACT Committee of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and is a member of ACT Writers. Sarah was a Roving Reporter at the 2019 SCBWI Conference in Sydney and in 2017, she was a judge in the Children’s Book Council of Australia ACT Branch Make Your Own Story Book Competition.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, gardening and spending time with her three children. She is currently enjoying working with publisher Little Pink Dog Books on the publication of her picture book Emma’s Freckles, due out in late 2022.
